Make Point

Turns longitude and latitude columns into points you can map and use in other spatial nodes.

Also known as: XY to point, create points

How it works

Pick the Longitude column and Latitude column, both in decimal degrees, and the Output column, geom by default. The point is built with longitude first and tagged as EPSG:4326, which the Map tab and the other spatial nodes expect. Nothing is dropped: coordinates outside -180..180 or -90..90, rows at 0,0 and rows that look like swapped latitude and longitude are counted into warnings on the node instead.

Inputs and outputs

Inputs

  • data — Table

Outputs

  • data — Table

Settings

The Attributes panel of Make Point, as in the app: the controls work, but nothing runs — there is no data behind it.

The same settings, as the Assistant writes them
{
  lonColumn: string
  latColumn: string
  outputColumn: string
}

lon/lat are degrees (EPSG:4326); out-of-range values are warned, not dropped

Example

Store coordinates from a CSV with lng and lat columns: longitude lng, latitude lat, output geom. Then use Spatial Join to tag each store with its region.
