Geospatial · Build and fix geometry

Make Valid

Repairs broken shapes, such as self-crossing polygons, so later spatial steps don't fail on them.

Also known as: Fix geometry

How it works

Pick the Geometry column. Each invalid shape (self-intersecting rings, bowties, unclosed rings) is rebuilt as a valid one and replaces the original in the same column; valid shapes pass through untouched. When it runs on the desktop the node counts the repairs and shows a warning such as 3 invalid geometries repaired.

Settings

The Attributes panel of Make Valid, as in the app: the controls work, but nothing runs — there is no data behind it.

The same settings, as the Assistant writes them

Example

A hand-digitized zone layer makes Spatial Intersection fail. Put Make Valid on the zone input with geometry column geom, and read the warning to see how many shapes needed fixing.
